Vortec and Holland BPW’s Compressed Air Maintenance Program Help Manufacturers Reduce Energy Usage

09/22/2022
In an effort to reduce energy consumption in the manufacturing industry, Holland Michigan’s Board of Public Works (HBPW) is offering generous incentives for local manufacturers to review their current compressed air usage and make updates that can significantly reduce energy usage and costs. Holland is home to many automobile supply chain manufacturers and other large industrial customers that use substantial amounts of compressed air in their day-to-day operations.

A component of HBPW’s Energy Waste Reduction program is the Compressed Air Maintenance Program. This program is designed for commercial or industrial customers with compressed air systems to perform compressed air leak studies (and repairs) or to purchase engineered air nozzles to reduce air consumption.  Customers can also receive rebates for other pieces of energy-efficient compressed air equipment.  Holland BPW offers a rebate on the purchase of engineered air nozzles – 100% of the customer cost, or $100 per nozzle, whichever is less. Engineered air nozzles not only significantly reduce energy use, but they also reduce noise levels and increase user safety by eliminating the risk of dead-end pressure injuries – this is where Vortec can help.

Vortec engineered air nozzles significantly reduce compressed air consumption and noise, compared to open nozzle jets. Using proven amplification technology, Vortec nozzles entrain and accelerate free surrounding air, resulting in air flow volume up to 25 times more than the volume of compressed air, giving 25 times the blow off capability at a significantly reduced energy usage and lower operating cost.
And while reducing air consumption, Vortec nozzles also reduce noise levels by as much as 60%.

Vortec air nozzles are available in a full range of designs, materials of construction, sizes and force/thrust levels compatible with most installations; capable of replacing open copper tubes, flex-line, drilled pipe and other nozzles that are not designed to save air. Worker safety standards are met as well, as Vortec safety air nozzles are compliant with OSHA 1910.242(b) dead-end pressure regulations.

With the combination of the Holland BPW Compressed Air Maintenance Program and Vortec’s energy saving air nozzles, manufacturers in Holland, MI can improve their overall manufacturing process by reducing operating costs associated with compressed air usage and decrease their overall energy usage.
