Hazardous Locations Just Got Safer

With the Dually Certified, UL and ATEX, ProtEX Vortex A/C

I have worked 33 years at Vortec and I am proud of our many accomplishments, but I must say this might be the one I am most excited about. We have continuously received feedback from manufacturers about the need for specific hazardous location enclosure coolers. Numerous industrial environments, from petrochemical plants to food manufacturing to foundries, have needed proper cooling equipment. After going through the appropriate steps, I am proud to say that Vortec has finally released its ProtEX Vortex A/C enclosure cooler! The ProtEX has dual certification with both ATEX and UL.

Theses certifications, ATEX Zones 1 and 21, and UL Class I Div. 1, Class II Div. 1 and Class III, have helped us to offer more innovative cooling solutions to more industries and facilities than before. The ProtEX’s unique enclosure cooler design and features have allowed us to continuing being a market leader in offering compressed air solutions. These are the key features that the ProtEX has to offer:

  •          It is approved for UL Class I, II and III Div. 1 locations
  •          Approved for ATEX Zones 1 and 21
  •          T3 temperature classification
  •          Approved for UL Type 4x (NEMA 4X)
  •          Comes with a compressed air filter that has a pressure drop indicator which will alert you when it is time to change the filter element
  •          78% quieter than vortex coolers (62 dBA)
  •          Can be installed in under 5 minutes
  •          Certified for temperatures up to 175 degrees F

These features make it one of the top hazardous location enclosure coolers on the market. The ProtEX is easily installed and requires minimal maintenance costs. Plus, with the numerous certifications it has received, the ProtEX is able to perform in greater hazardous locations than most Freon air conditioners and helps facilities save on costs because they require less maintenance. The ProtEX hazardous location enclosure cooler is another example of the passion and commitment that Vortec has towards offering innovative compressed air solutions. Please let me know if you have any questions and if I can be of any help in addressing your compressed air application needs. I look forward to working with you!
